November Round Up

News From November

My help comes from the Lord (The Bible, Psalm 121 verse 2)

Home Mission Sunday.

For Home Mission Sunday we were blessed by a visit from The Revd. Andrew Mumford from South Ashford Baptist Church.  South Ashford Baptist is currently being helped by Baptist Home Mission, just as we have been in the past. More information about Home Mission at: www.baptist.org.uk/Groups/220659/Home_Mission.aspx (Picture, Pastors Andrew and Seyan).

Dementia Awareness Event

As part of our ongoing Elevenses With Pastor program we had a visit from Inchwater Home Care to provide information for people with dementia and their carers.   Our visititors were very well informed and able to give a lot of good practical advice.  Some very moving stories were shared as people had the opportunity to discuss their particular situations and ask for advice, as well as sharing their own experiences and tips.

School Bibles

Once again, we have been able to partner our friends of the Walmer Parish Churches and Walmer Chapel in funding the purchase of 60 new NIV Adventure Bibles.

These were presented to the Year 3 children of The Downs School in a special assembly held in school on 7 November with parents and representatives of the local churches in attendance.

The Revd Seth Cooper (Vicar of Walmer) and Pastor Clive Lambden (Walmer Chapel) made the presentations with our own pastor, Pastor Seyan leading Assembly Prayers.

The children will keep their Bibles in school for use in lessons and reading time – they will take them away when they leave the school.

Pastor's Health

Unfortunately Pastor Seyan has developed a nasty infection in one of his legs and has had to be hospitalised.  A message to the Fellowship was read out on Sunday:

Friends
It saddens me greatly that I am unable to begin the Advent Season with you but I have the opportunity to witness to staff, patients and visitors from my hospital bed. It has been a comfort to find many Christian doctors, nurses and Health Care Assistants at my bedside.

The infection in my right leg is as severe as my initial infection that saw me hospitalised in April 2016. A variety of specialists are reviewing my condition and I am awaiting, next, the Vascular Specialist and series of blood test results.

As your Pastor, I wish you all a blessed Advent and joyous Christmas celebration and thank you all for your valued, love and prayers.
Pastor Seyan

Forthcoming Events

Our December program is currently on the front of the website.  We do hope that you will come and worship and fellowship with us all, especially as we remember and celebrate the coming into the world of God's most precious gift, his Son Jesus Christ.
