Fundraising For Ellice's Wish To Walk
A hundred strong audience of all ages were entertained by the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir and young instrumentalists from The Downs CE Primary School and teenage soloist Harrison Last. A varied programme of choral and musical items appealed to all tastes, with opportunities for participation, encouraged by Musical Director, resplendent in his technicolour waistcoat.
The concert, principally, a fundraiser for the local community appeal "Ellice's Wish to Walk" saw £500 added to the appeal total from the retiring collection given by the audience. Ellice Barr melted hearts with her cheery smile and cuddling the soft toy given to her by the Church.
The musical contribution by the young performers from The Downs School was warmly received, as was the contemporary offering by Harrison which preceded a presentation to the school retiring Head Teacher, Mrs Karunaratna, made by the Minister, in recognition of her contribution to the wider Christian community beyond the school's Anglican foundation.
