January Round Up
Here we are, another month gone. We are, as always, trying to share the Gospel with all who will listen and to build links with the community around us. Our varied program has restarted after the Christmas break. Here are a few things of note that have happened.
A Good Month For Fundraising
In spite of this normally being a quiet month an excellent effort was made by members and friends of the Church this month raising over six hundred pounds for Good causes. Our New Year social was a Ukrainian themed evening organised by the Revd. Arthur Glinn with Ukrainian food and a display of interesting items from the Ukraine (top right) raising funds for the charity hope now. Our group Knitting for the Needy, led by Mrs Rita Bishop (top left) did very well, selling items that they had made in the Undercroft at Deal town hall. On homeless Sunday a special collection was held; three boxes of suitable items such as warm clothing and also money were collected for the homeless.
Pastors Health
We are delighted to be able to tell you that, after his recent difficulties, Pastor has been allowed to return to work, albeit on light duties.
Work On The Building
Replacement work on windows in the Parlour and the kitchen are already taking place in anticipation of the work on the kitchen later in the year which will involve a complete refit and a hatch from the kitchen to the hall. We also have scaffolding up at the moment so that we can have much needed work on the roof and brickwork done.
Annual Report
Our annual report has been published. It is available printed at the church or online by clicking HERE
Forthcoming
We hope to have a defibrillator made available to the community on the exterior of the building soon, more to follow.
We are staring a new DVD/ discussion of the book of Luke. The DVD is totally faithful to the Gospel text; the afternoon session will use the King James Version and the evening session will use the NIV translation. More information below.
