Our Act Of Remembrance

As has become our custom a group from Walmer Baptist gathered round the grave of Private William Bennett, who was from this fellowship, on this years remembrance day to mark the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month those who sacrificed their lives in war.

Private Bennett gave his life for his country in the First World War at the tender age of seventeen, having already served two years in the marines.  His body was recovered and brought home to Deal where he was interred with full military honours.

Our Church Elder Seyan led us in prayers and we observed the silence with the other attendees in the cemetery.  This year was also special as last year we unable to attend because of the Covid outbreak.

As always, on Remembrance Sunday, we will remember those both from our fellowship and our mother Church Deal Victoria during our worship, a list of fifteen names.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.'
