Our New Moderator
As you may know we are currently without a minister and need the services of a moderator, an experienced minister to stand alongside us with help and advice until we find a new one. Our previous moderator the Revd Helen Matthews served us faithfully and well for the year that she had promised, but did not feel she could continue beyond that. After discussion with our Regional Minister we approached the Revd. Simon Roberton who was previously known to us and had been at Bible college with our Church Elder. Simon was happy to serve and was accepted by a unanimous vote of our Church meeting. You can read more about Simon here
A New Venture - Soup and a Roll.
At Church meeting it was suggested that we try and offer a warm space to the community around us for the winter season. This was enthusiastically taken up and we are now doing a soup and roll lunch on Tuesday mornings, preceding the knitting group. This is provided free to the community (though donations are accepted) and anyone is welcome.
Another Funsdaising Success.
Our Knitting group 'Knitting for the Needy' has acheived another year of fundraising success. This year they raised £1890. This years cause was for charity 'Holding on Letting Go' which supports bereaved children and they came to receive a cheque earlier this month. You can read more about 'Holding on Letting Go' at here
Taking Christmas Outside.
Two of our members got together and created the most wonderful outdoor Nativity (see picture above). This was made especially to be able to display it outside of the Church, so it had to be tamper proof but still look good. The results were very well received with people stopping to look at it and even to photograph it. It is hoped this will become a permamnent feature of our Christmases here.
